CLQ 3240 C14/CS:Indigenous Peoples of North Amer.

This course will explore the local and global history of Indigenous Peoples of North America and their responses to colonization from the 19th century to the present, including issues of sovereignty, environmental movements, race, class, and gender. The themes covered in this course include understanding the past in the present (how things came to be this way), understanding diverse cultural contexts locally and globally, and methods of conducting historical research. This course will empower students as informed and engaged citizens who understand the historical and cultural context of the local environment and political conflicts in global economic arenas.Co-requisite CLQ 3241.
