CLQ 3110 C1/EN:Narrative&Metaphor Local to Nat'l
From the first construction of ancient scripts and alphabets human beings have sought to pass on collective learning and information. This course examines the exponential expansion of available information and that expansion's potential to overwhelm humanity. Focusing on a community issue important to them, students will explore the ways in which constructing narrative-crafting a story-about that issue can make meaning from information. Using written, spoken and visual narratives the course investigates how metaphor can be used to explain, or translate, meaning. Students will construct stories that can be used in service to their community issues. Co-requisite 3111.
