This course offers a detailed introduction to the visual evidence of London, beginning with ancient archaeological material and moving through the subsequent eras of Roman, medieval, Renaissance, and 18th- and 19th-century development to the modern and post-modern urban landscape of London today. We will also investigate the origins and development of major art collections in the city’s many museums as representative examples of London’s history as a world cultural capital.
