Program Description:

The associate degree program in Nursing at Rockland Community College (RCC) is accredited by Middle States Commission on Higher Ed (MSCHE) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). Upon graduation students are prepared to pass the state licensure exam to be hired as a Registered Nurse (RN) in various healthcare settings. RCC's Nursing Program is proud to consistently be ranked as one of the best nursing programs in the state based in part on a record of some of the highest RN licensing pass rates in New York State. RCC nursing students will learn to meet the needs of the community by delivering patient-centered, safe, equitable, inclusive, holistic, and cost-effective care utilizing a collaborative approach which includes the patient, family, significant others and members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Students will learn to provide care within the ethical, legal, and professional standards of nursing.

Program Learning Outcomes:

The specific educational objectives of the nursing curriculum support the College’s mission statement; and state that upon completion of the Nursing Program, the graduate is prepared to:

  • Provide patient-centered care utilizing a collaborative approach which includes the patient, family, significant others and members of the nursing and healthcare team.
  • Practice with competence to provide safe, equitable, and inclusive care in a cost-effective healthcare environment.
  • Coordinate holistic care for groups of patients utilizing organizational skills and the concepts of delegation, accountability and advocacy.
  • Practice within the ethical, legal and professional standards of nursing demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning
