OMED 8462 Pediatric Hospital Medicine Elective Clerkship
This four-week elective clerkship is designed to provide experiential learning in the field of pediatric hospital medicine. To accomplish this, students will participate as a member of an, often multi-disciplinary, team caring for infants, children, and adolescents requiring hospitalization. Students will evaluate and manage acute conditions and acute exacerbations of chronic conditions specific to the pediatric population in the inpatient setting. Students will learn concepts including but not limited to oxygen support, fluid management, nutrition, and pharmacology related to pediatrics. The student will also gain experience in varied procedures as well as in communicating with ill pediatric patients and parents.
