PSYD 7480 PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY
This course will focus on how psychoactive drugs impact human behavior. Emphasis will be on how selected drugs interact with neurotransmitter systems and how neurotrasmitter systems modulate behavior. Particular reference will be made to reactions in the central nervous system to chemically effective drugs such as the antipsychotic, antidepressant, and anti-anxiety durg classes. Indications for and contraindications to the use of these prescribed drugs will be stressed, as well as other management strategies. Prerequisite: Matriculation in the PSYD School Psychology program Type of Course: Doctoral Level: Required for Psy.D. students in the School Psychology Program
