CLQ 3081 HO/HI: Monsters & Cyborgs: History

This course links fascination with monsters and cyborgs to scientific and medical definitions of the "human" (ca.18th – 21st centuries). We will study how creatures reflected and formed views of disease, diagnosis, and treatment, and recover how expert knowledge rationalized oppression and enabled its transcendence. Humanities and science majors welcome.
