CLQ 3150 C5/AR:Art as Inspired by Music & History
This course will acquaint students with the link between music and art through paintings, sculptures, manuscripts and various art forms. Students will study the history of art and examine how music has been used to translate philosophical and moral concepts into visual images, such as images of music that stand for temperance, harmony and concord, as guaranteed by enlightened government. They will see how various artists use musical themes and instruments to illustrate allegories, classical mythology and religious subjects, as well as how artists depict individual performers and performance venues.
