Bachelor of Arts in History

The Bachelor of Arts in History degree program provides students with an understanding of the world and the diverse forces shaping both the past and present.

The degree program seeks to develop students’ appreciation of societies that differ from theirs, to discover how to place contemporary issues and problems within a broad historical context, and to help students develop a variety of practical research and communication skills that allow them to understand and analyze the past. Ultimately, UIW faculty provide students a framework for understanding the past and the knowledge and skills necessary for charting the future.

The program provides the students with a comprehensive understanding of the history of the United States of America. The program also offers a comprehensive understanding of Global History with regional focus on South Asia, East Asia and South-east Asia, Middle East, Europe and Latin America. The program also offers specialized and thematic courses like Global Human Rights, Global Refugees, Immigration, War and Society, Harry Potter and History, Star Trek and History, Women’s History, and Gaming in History, to give the students an exposure into the complex issues and debates of the 21st century world, providing the historical context to understand the world in which we live.
