HIST 4340 History of Afghanistan

Students survey the ancient, medieval and modern history of Afghanistan, thematically and topically. Students explore how the different factors, political, social, and economic, religion and religious identities, gender, colonialism, nationalism and revolution and lastly international intervention have shaped and molded the country's history. Students also look as 21st century issues of human rights, Taliban and Al-Qaeda, international intervention, conflict and terrorism, and the politics of opium in the region.
