OCC 20100 Principles of Occupational Therapy: Geriatric Practice

Students explore the physical, psychological, social and sensory aspects of aging and their impact on participation in occupation.  In addition, societal issues and trends, legislative, regulatory and funding issues and their impact on the elderly and OT practice are explored. Students learn and practice a variety of intervention approaches to address limitations in performance and participation while also studying interventions to promote independence, health, and wellbeing. This course includes a minimum of a 2 visit Level 1 Fieldwork experience where students integrate and apply course concepts.
