Departmental Honors & Distinction
The requirements for Departmental Honors in Chemistry ordinarily are a grade of B or better in each of the required Chemistry courses for the major program. Students do not need to be in the Chemistry Honors Program in order to qualify for Departmental Honors.
The requirements for Departmental Distinction in Chemistry ordinarily are a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in Chemistry coursework.
The final decision about Honors and Distinction is made by a vote of the Chemistry faculty after a discussion of the student's record.
