Academic Bankruptcy
Students who have interrupted their college career for a period of at least five (5) consecutive calendar years, may upon their return of said absence, declare academic bankruptcy. Under this policy, all college-level work done at an earlier date is eliminated from computation of the Institution grade-point average, and none of it can be applied toward a degree, certificate, or for credit at Laredo Community College. Such work will not be removed from the student’s scholastic records and transcripts. NOTE: Academic bankruptcy does NOT eliminate or change the student’s Financial Aid satisfactory academic progress status. A student that returns to LCC after five years will have to follow the degree plan for their major of the year in which they return to campus.
Students who are granted academic bankruptcy will have the corresponding classes coded on their academic transcript as "Academic Bankruptcy".
