SPT 3985 INTERNSHIP IN SPORT MANAGEMENT
Internships provide real world, practical application of sport management theories and concepts. This course provides students with a full-time, 320+ hour experiential opportunity in a professional interest area. Students work with a faculty member and on-site agency mentor to show evidence of knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies through the completion of daily journals, weekly assignments, and projects.
Prerequisite
SPT major, at least a 2.0 GPA in SPT and overall, and departmental approval
Course Outcomes
- Students will be able to:
•Analyze the structure and activities of the internship organization using theories and concepts from the sport management curriculum. - •Apply knowledge of sport management coursework to the internship experience through daily journals, weekly assignments, and a final project.
- •Demonstrate professional skills needed to be successful in the internship position.
- •Connect the internship experience to individual career interests.
- •Utilize appropriate skills necessary to work effectively within formal and informal diverse networks and work cultures.
- •Present learnings from the experience at the Sport Management Internship Forum.
