Program and Certification Requirements:

The following courses or their equivalents must appear on a graduate or undergraduate transcript at the time of graduation. Undergraduate prerequisites and graduate science or Science Education courses within this program may be used to meet this requirement but the student must present at least 30 credits in the subject area outside of the Masters degree.

 

Per NYSED:

 

Biology (30 credits)

Acceptable courses would typically be offered by a Biology department, and would include courses in scientific methods, cell biology, biochemistry, anatomy and physiology, comparative anatomy, genetics and evolution, biological diversity, human biology, and ecology.

 

Chemistry (30 credits)

Acceptable courses would typically be offered by a Chemistry department, and would include courses in scientific methods, matter and atomic structure, energy, chemical bonds and molecular structure, chemical reactions and quantitative relationships. 

 

Physics (30 credits)

Acceptable courses would typically be offered by a Physics department and would include courses in scientific methods, mechanics, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, waves, sound, light, and quantum theory and the atom.
