  • Per NYSED:

    English (30 credits)

    In general, courses offered by an English department that are considered core requirements toward a degree in English are acceptable. For example, courses in composition, English literature, poetry, playwriting, grammar, and English linguistics are acceptable. For certificates that require 30 semester hours in the content core, a maximum of 6 semester hours of credit for study in related areas such as speech, drama, theater, and journalism may be allowed toward this requirement.
