History Major Requirements

A maximum of one independent study project (3 credits) and one internship project (3 credits) may be counted toward the major.

All courses must be taken for a letter grade and must receive a grade of C- or better.

History Major Honors Sequence

The History Major Honors Track includes an additional required course, History and Historians (3 cr.) [offered in alternate Spring semesters], and requires the completion of the Senior Honors Thesis during the Senior Colloquium for a total of 33 required major credits. The Senior Colloquium and the required thesis complete the Senior Evaluation major requirement. Honors History majors must complete the Honors Track sequence for eligibility for Honors at graduation. Honors are awarded to graduating majors who have earned a G.P.A. of 3.6 or higher in their required courses and who have completed an outstanding Senior Honors Thesis.

History Major with concentration in Social Studies

This concentration is intended for students preparing to be teachers of Social Studies in middle and high school. A co-major in Education is required.
