Program Description

The certificate programs are designed for individuals who are seeking a career in natural resources and possess a degree or are seeking job-entry level skills. This certificate program covers theory, philosophy, and applications for the study and management of wildlife and fisheries resources.

Faculty Recommendations:

1. Wildlife & Fisheries Management Principles (NRE 205). This course only offered in the Spring.

2. Wildlife Law Enforcement (NRE 230) or Colorado Wildlife (NRE 114). NRE 230 and NRE 114 only offered in the Spring.

3. One NRE Elective*.

*Faculty Recommend: Fish Biology and Ichthyology (AQT 102), Foundations of Forestry (NRE 100), Colorado Wildlife (NRE 114), Range Management & Restoration (NRE 204), Wildlife Law Enforcement (NRE 230), Avian Conservation/Ornithology (NRE 245), 3 credits of Internship (NRE 280), Independent Study (NRE 285). This includes NRE 280 Internship and NRE 285 Independent Study courses.

NRE 280 Internship or NRE 285 Independent Study - maximum of 3 credits in either course (or combination of both) may be applied to this certificate.

Note: This certificate can be spread out over multiple semesters or completed in one semester in Spring. Total number of semester/certificate credits vary depending on chosen elective.
