Program Description
The certificate programs are designed for individuals who are seeking a career in natural resources and possess a degree or are seeking job-entry level skills. This certificate program combines lecture and practical outdoor experiences relating to problems and trends in outdoor recreation.

Courses should be completed in the order listed below. If you are unable to complete the entire semester list, complete as many courses in this sequence as your schedule allows.

Faculty Recommendations:
1. Principles of Outdoor Recreation (REC 210). Offered only in Fall.
2. Wilderness Education (NRE 265). Offered only in Fall.
3. One NRE Elective*. Credits vary from 1 to 6.
*Select 3 credits from the following or any OUT courses: Fish Biology and Ichthyology (AQT 102), Ecology Field Study (NRE 200), Wildlife Law Enforcement (NRE 230), Backcountry Travel for Natural Resource Professionals (NRE 232), Avian Conservation/Ornithology (NRE 245), Internship (NRE 280), Independent Study (NRE 285).
NRE 280 Internship can be taken for 1-6 credits. In addition, students may not apply more than 3 credits in Internship or Independent Study programs to any AAS degree pathways in Forestry, Wildlife and Natural Resources.
Total number of credits may vary depending on which elective options are chosen.
