SPT 3520 SPORT SALES AND PROMOTION
Sales and promotion are the lifeblood of the sport industry. This course prepares students to utilize ethical and effective persuasive techniques across a variety of sport job forms and functions. Students learn best practices for sales scenarios ranging from ticket sales to multi-million dollar sponsorships; proven strategies for sales management and training; and how to successfully promote sport products across paid, owned, and earned media.
Course Outcomes
- Students will be able to:
•Understand the role of sales and promotion in sport organizations. - •Critically evaluate the goals of sales, promotion, and fund-raising campaigns and the role of data in effective planning, execution, and analysis.
- •Apply the tools of sport sales and promotion to specific sport products, events, or services.
•Identify differentiators and present a value proposition. - •Utilize effective communication and writing in sport promotion and sales.
- •Understand the value and nature of effective sales training and management.
- •Utilize a mix of paid, owned, and earned media to reach fans, customers, and community.
- •Demonstrate cultural proficiency and awareness about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preparation of promotion techniques, staffing and sales management.
