Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership Program Overview
The Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership program is designed for PK-12 teachers who want to continue in the classroom while assuming leadership roles in their school and community. This program focuses on the “teacher as a leader” and empowers experienced master teachers to effect change and improve student learning. The concentration is appropriate for teachers who wish to advance their current work as teachers or assume master teacher roles as department heads, team leaders, curriculum leaders, instructional coaches, or informal teacher leaders.
Admissions
Unconditional admission to the Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership program will be granted to applicants who satisfy all general requirements for admission to graduate studies, including:

Completed application for admission to the School of Professional Studies

Baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 GPA scale

Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
Conditional admission to the Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership program will be granted to applicants who satisfy all general requirements for admission noted above with the exception of:

Baccalaureate degree with a with a minimum GPA of 2.0

Required to complete the first four graduate courses (12 semester hours) attempted in the program with a grade of “B” (3.0) or better. Failure to complete the required courses with the grade of “B” (3.0) or better before exhausting applicable retake opportunities will result in dismissal from the program.

GRE may be required. Candidates may be admitted to the program with the understanding that they will satisfy the testing requirement during the first Fall or Spring semester of enrollment, as applicable.
Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership Degree Plan
To fulfill the requirements for the Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership, the student must complete 36 semester hours of graduate coursework.
