Master of Science in Nutrition

The Master of Science in Nutrition degree is a 30-credit-hour program. This program provides students with knowledge of current nutrition research, evidence-based nutrition practices, and advances the training and skills necessary to apply that knowledge in their professional careers. All students take foundation courses in macronutrients, micronutrients, nutrition research, and statistics. This program fulfills the current academic requirement of obtaining a master's degree to be eligible to take the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist exam. Students may also complete the ACEND-accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics and/or Dietetic Internship while working on the Master of Science in Nutrition degree. Graduates of the program will be prepared to work in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service management settings as leaders in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

The MS in Nutrition is designed to meet the needs of:

  • Students wanting to expand their knowledge of nutrition.

  • Students desiring a career in nutrition and dietetics.

  • Students completing requirements necessary to be eligible to sit for the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist exam.

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Master of Science in Nutrition program must have

    • Taken the GRE within the last 5 years and received a minimum score of 143 in Verbal Reasoning, 141 in Quantitative Reasoning and 3 on the Analytical Essay.

      • GRE Waiver: If the applicant graduated with an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, the GRE requirement will be WAIVED and the applicant will not be required to submit GRE scores. International students are required to take the GRE regardless of GPA.

Students must meet adequate undergraduate background requirements, including:

  • Human Anatomy and Physiology (3-4 hours)
