EDUC 2315 Survey of Students in Diverse and Inclusive Settings

Survey of Students in Diverse and Inclusive Settings provides an overview of issues, trends, and instructional considerations related to special education in elementary settings. Throughout the course, students will learn about the philosophical, historical, and legal foundations of special education; current trends and issues related to special education; characteristics and needs of students with disabilities; and collaboration with the family, school, and community personnel. Students will focus on high-incidence areas of special education, including gifted and talented. The course focuses on the preparation of general education teachers to meet the needs of students in inclusive classrooms. This course is the prerequisite for the special education sequence of courses.
