Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program develops highly skilled, highly educated engineering professionals ready to succeed in the lab, in the field, or in the C-suite.

The degree program  combines a strong core of math, science, and engineering courses with an intensive study in one of four tracks. Students can choose from electrical, mechanical, management and mechatronics tracks based on their career or academic goals.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree Plan

The Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program provides students a strong foundation in engineering principles with an emphasis on the programming of devices, signal analysis, electrical frequencies, interpretation of random signals, feedback systems, control of systems, tradeoffs between sensitivity and performance, and control theory. Students have options to work on robotics and other devices. Graduates specializing in this track are also prepared to pursue a graduate degree in electrical engineering.

129 credit hours are required to complete the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program.

Pre-Engineering Curriculum

The University offers a pre-engineering curriculum. This 2 or 3-year plan of study will have the student lay a groundwork of mathematics, science and computer courses which can then a) be transferred to a school that offers a four-year bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, or b) be used as part of a degree plan at this University in an area such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or Nutrition, or c) be the basis for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Degrees at most four-year universities have many courses in common for the first two years. In addition, nearly all degree programs at other schools have a core curriculum similar to UIW, requiring the student to take classes in other departments at the University.
