Website: Department of Computer Information Systems and Cyber Security

College/School: School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering

Apply to UIW: Application for the Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security Systems program

Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security Systems degree program provides students with a broad base of theoretical and experiential knowledge and skills that responds to the rapid changes in the field. The program curriculum incorporates the best guidance from government agencies and the best features of nationally recognized security programs and security related degrees at universities and colleges in San Antonio. The curriculum is constantly upgraded when needed to include new and emerging technologies and best practices in the cybersecurity domain.

Graduates of the program will be able to apply principles of individual and organization-level cyber security to personal and work situations, including being able to explain personal security issues, vulnerability assessment, threats, risk management, and countermeasures. They will have foundational knowledge and skills in computer hardware, software programming, and networking, and be able to apply this knowledge to more advanced situations to design secure systems, create secure networks, and assist an organization in securing its assets and creating, managing, and implementing secure policies.

A minor in Cyber Security Systems is available for students who wish to enhance their chosen field of study, since cyber security impacts all organizations that employ computer technology.
