PS4133 Health Policy and Intervention Programs

This course is designed to increase student awareness and understanding of policies and programs intended to promote health and well being among individuals and families. Students learn about the history of interventions, from early treatment-based approaches, through the transition towards problem prevention, to the current emphasis on promoting positive health outcomes. We discuss research and theories upon which common treatment, prevention and promotion interventions have been based. In addition, we discuss some of the many roles that professionals can play when developing, implementing or evaluating health interventions.
