PS3137 Positive Development and Social Advocacy for Adolescents and Adults
This course begins by introducing students to the rapid period of development that begins with puberty and continues into early adulthood. Students learn about the unique developmental processes that unfold during this part of the lifespan. Next, the class turns its focus toward the physical, cognitive and social changes that occur during the periods of early and middle adulthood. The class emphasizes the numerous contextual factors that influence developmental outcomes for both adolescents and adults, including peers, families, schools and workplace settings, among others. Students become familiar with a variety or advocacy strategies that can be used to support healthy physical, behavioral, emotional and spiritual development during adolescence and adulthood.
