PS3615 Health and Oriental Medicine
Open to the public. This course explores the practice of Oriental medicine and its relationship to Western psychology. Special attention is given to the influences of qigong, Taoist and five-element traditions. Psychological health is examined from an energetic perspective, congruent with Oriental medicine’s philosophy of approaching emotional problems as a result of an imbalance. The five-element tradition is explored in the context of maintaining health and wellness and contrasted with traditional Western concepts of balance.
