OMED 8251 Mental Health and the Law Elective Clerkship
This 2-week elective examines how mental health and the law interact. Learners survey, analyze, and apply a range of concepts, including competence, capacity, psychiatric advance directives, involuntary commitment, and confidentiality for mental health records. Learners consider key laws and regulations that apply to mental health treatment and the providers who render it. This elective is synchronous and combines readings, small group discussions, case studies, and learner presentations.
