BIOL 4380 Virology

This course addresses the structure, replication, and properties of viruses. The molecular organization of the genomes of viruses will be analyzed. The interaction of viruses with host immune systems will be presented. Chemotherapeutic treatment of viral infections and vaccination will be evaluated. Current methods of recombinant DNA technology in the study of viruses will be presented. Applications of those technologies and their ethical and legal considerations will be discussed.

Prerequisite

BIOL 3311 OR (BIOL 3471 OR BIOL 3471L). Student may either have BIOL 3311 OR BIOL 3471/ BIOL 3471L to serve as the prerequisite for the course.
