BIOL 3471 General Microbiology
This course is designed to introduce basic principles of microbiology and actively engage students in the examination of microbial life. Students will explore a diverse group of microorganisms with a focus on physiological and biochemical diversity, microbial evolution and ecology, host-microbe interactions, infectious disease, immune evasion, and epidemiology. Positive contributions of microorganisms in the areas of human health, biotechnology, the ecosystem, sustainability/bioremediation, and food production will also be examined.
Corequisite
BIOL 3471L. General Microbiology Laboratory (0 credit hours) must be taken with
BIOL 3471. The laboratory grade is incorporated into the final grade for the 4 credit hour course.
