Supervision and Management-Bachelor of Applied Science
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management admits students on a continual basis. Applications received, after all registration deadlines for the most current term, are processed for admission and enrollment in the following academic term.
Application and Admission Requirements
- Completed PHSC application with application fee
- Official high school transcript or GED scores indicating receipt of a high school equivalency diploma, if required for documentation of foreign language requirement (completion of two consecutive years of one foreign language). The foreign language requirement must be met prior to the completion of the bachelor's degree. This requirement can be met by any of the following:
- Completion of two years of high school instruction in the same foreign language
- Completion of two sequential college-level courses in one foreign language
- Achievement of minimum scores on a foreign language proficiency exam approved by the Admissions and Student Records office
- Completion of a high school diploma from a foreign country where the student studied in a language other than English
- Complete any prerequisite courses that may be necessary after a review of all transcripts with a grade of "C" or higher
- Official transcript from each United States college and university attended other than PHSC
- Official transcript showing an associate's degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits with a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale) from a regionally accredited institution
Non-BAS-SM Course Requirements
Please refer to the program curriculum for a complete listing of all course requirements for this program. All students must meet General Education Requirements and any prerequisite courses needed for the upper-level courses which were not part of their lower-level degree. Students in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervision and Management program can specialize in one of three concentrations: Organizational Administration, Health Management or Public Safety.
General Education Requirements (36 credits)
Students who have completed an Associate in Arts (AA) degree at a public Florida college will have met the General Education Requirements. Students who have completed an AA degree at an institution outside of Florida, or those who have earned an Associate in Science (AS) or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree or equivalent, will need to take additional General Education courses. Applicants should consult with an advisor to determine if acceptable substitutions may satisfy some or all of Pasco-Hernando State College's General Education Requirements.
Area I: Communications (9 credit hours)
Area II: Mathematics (6 credit hours)
- Any 3 credit hour course with prefix MAC, MGF or STA (MAC 1105 is recommended)
- Any 3 credit hour course with prefix MAC, MGF or STA
Area III: Natural Sciences (6 credit hours)
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area III
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area III
Area IV: Social and Behavioral Sciences (6 credit hours)
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area IV
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area IV
Area V: Humanities (6 credit hours)
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area V
- Any 3 credit hour course from Area V
Area VI: Information Literacy and Technology Fluency (3 credit hours)
Technical Courses from AS or Equivalent Degree (42 credits)
Students will also need a total of 42 credit hours of technical or elective courses if not previously taken.
Note: Students should strive to take any prerequisite technical courses that may be required for any upper-level BAS-SM courses. Students are advised to consult with an academic advisor to determine which technical courses may be required.
Transfer
Students who have started classes in a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) program at another institution may be able to transfer to the Pasco-Hernando State College program. The student must apply to PHSC and request official transcripts as noted above. Transcripts will be reviewed on a course-by-course basis to determine equivalency to Pasco-Hernando State College courses. In order to receive the baccalaureate degree from Pasco-Hernando State College students must complete at least 25% (30 credits) of the BAS program at PHSC and at least 25% (12 credits) of the upper-division courses required for the program at Pasco-Hernando State College.
