IDS190 Keeping Score: Cultures of Sport

This course uses sports to identify and examine issues of contemporary and historical importance around the world. Students will learn to analyze and evaluate how we think and talk about sports and the narratives we create to understand them. By looking at how sports intersect with history, race, gender, ethics, psychology and economics, students will gain a greater understanding of how the games we play and the teams we root for reflect broader instances of social change and conflict. Fulfills open, liberal arts, social science, humanities, and history electives.
