Program Information

  • Students wishing to complete this certificate in one year should enter the program after successful completion of Math Module 12, MAT094 Intermediate Algebra, or after achieving an equivalent score on the math placement test; Biology at the high school or college level; and communications proficiency.
  • Students may apply the credits earned in this program toward the requirements for an Associate Degree in Biotechnology.
  • Students should meet with the Biotechnology Program Coordinator to review the prerequisites of each course within the program and discuss course selections for successful completion of this program.
  • Simultaneous awarding of Certificate and Degree Policy: Certificates whose coursework is embedded within an Associate’s degree program will not be awarded simultaneously in the same term as the degree is awarded; i.e. Biotechnology(BOD) and Biotechnology Certificate(BOC).

Admissions and Transfer Information

  • The following background is recommended for this program: algebra and biology. Students without this background may need to take prerequisite course work prior to enrolling in some of the courses required in this program.
  • This is an Open Admissions Program - Proof of high school graduation or the equivalent is required for admission to this program.
