NRS 2300 PRINCIPLES OF PHYSIOLOGY AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGY FOR NURSING PRACTICE
This course will introduce the essential elements of physiology and pathophysiology and focus on the physiologic changes and clinical manifestations of altered health. Students will explore the impact of health, wellness, illness, injury, and disease processes on major body systems.

- 1. Describe physiology and pathophysiology in relation to body structures and functions.
- 2. Categorize relationships between symptoms and disease, analyzing how these variables relate to
differential diagnosis. - 3. Identify clinical decision-making and diagnostic reasoning based on pathophysiological processes
in major organ systems. - 4. Gain knowledge needed to assess acute and chronic health conditions.
- 5. Understand the mechanisms of disease essential to the role of the professional nurse in determining the appropriate nursing management of the client.
