ASPP 5290 Exit Meeting
The Exit Meeting is the last required element of the MA and Certificate programs. It should be completed once all other requirements are met. This involves meeting with the Program Director to reflect on time in the program, specific courses, instructors, etc. and have an opportunity to give feedback about any element of the program and their time at HNU. Students will be encouraged to articulate the ways in which they wish to be involved with the program as alumni and also how they can help promote the program and HNU as ambassadors. We will also cover what benefits they have as alumni of the university and program and what HNU benefits they may not have access to any more once they graduate. We will discuss what happens post-graduation and various elements to consider as they step into the field, for example, becoming certified as a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CPMPC), Continuing Education requirements, journal subscriptions, and professional liability insurance, etc. Other elements include reviewing and editing the student’s CV/resume, discussing the importance of peer consultation groups, promoting themselves in the field, their future plans and ideas, networking and introductions to various professionals in the field. Finally, we will discuss the importance of service and giving back. Professional development workshops provide opportunities for students to further their education beyond program-specific coursework. Each workshop offers valuable, hands-on training and tools to support career development. Potential workshops may include how to read research articles, writing skills for graduate school, job searches, interviewing, and other topics within professional development. This series will also facilitate preparation for the final Comprehensive Exam and the post-masters CMPC exam. This is a Credit/No Credit course.
