ASPP 5210 Diversity in Sport and Performance Psychology
This course provides students with an examination of the historical and present-day topics regarding diversity in sport and performance. Students will engage in critical self-reflection to uncover their own implicit biases and assumptions as they relate to their future work as practitioners. The course will explore the concept of cultural competence regarding ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation and identity, religion, age, socioeconomic status and other areas of cultural considerations. Students will learn to think critically by enhancing their awareness of intersectionality, microaggressions, diversity, inclusion, social justice, and equity and how these concepts may impact performance and well-being.
