OMED 8249 Health Care Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Elective Clerkship
This 2-week elective examines health care fraud, waste, and abuse. Focusing on federal health care programs, learners examine how fraud, waste, and abuse impact the health care system, dissipate the public’s investment in it, and degrade quality of care. Learners survey key laws and regulations that govern the practice of medicine, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law. This elective is synchronous and combines readings, small group discussions, case studies, and learner presentations.
