METR 3375 Atmospheric Dynamics I

This course covers the basics of atmospheric dynamics Including conservation laws, development of the equations of motion, thermal wind, circulation and vorticity, geostrophy, quasi-geostophic motions, waves, and instabilities. It involves observational and theoretical analysis of all motion systems of meteorological significance. fundamental principles of physics are applied to explain the dynamical processes that operate in the Earth's atmosphere.
