ART 114 Landscape Drawing

Explores the complexities of contemporary drawing, using UC Santa Cruz's diverse landscapes as a point of departure. Beginning with an observational drawing approach, students gain confidence in perceptual drawing practices that lead to more personal, thematic, and conceptual directions. Topics such as linear perspective, notan, and decolonizationare scrutinized while exploring a range of drawing materials from charcoal to ink wash. A lightweight field easel is required to facilitate working at full scale.
