Architecture Department
In 1948, the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de los Andes was founded and since then, around two thousand architects have graduated from it. At the end of 1996, after a process of self-evaluation and diagnosis of the curricular plan, a reform was carried out whose objectives revolved around the academic excellence of the undergraduate program and the commitment to the urban theme. These objectives clearly coincide with those set forth in the UIA/UNESCO letter on training in schools of Architecture, disseminated in Barcelona in 1996.
The strategies to achieve these goals were:
- Strengthen interdisciplinary relationships.
- Organize the curriculum around cycles.
- Consolidate the Department's commitment to the content and methodology of each of the courses taught.
- Guarantee basic education and comprehensive training for students.
- Implement the elective course and deepen the curriculum plan.
- Strengthen the impact of the degree project within the Department and in the environment.
- Promote the study of urban issues.
- Promote academic publishing and research.
- To form a teaching staff of the highest quality.
