INSC 30853 Fundamentals of Cybersecurity

Prerequisites: INSC 30823 with a C or better and must be a declared Business Information Systems major. The rapid development of networking and data storage technology has, in many cases made data the most important asset for many corporations. This course provides a management level understanding of cybersecurity. The focus is to view the issues and practical solutions for securing information systems. Topics include such areas as the threat environment, security policy and planning, secure networks, access control, firewalls, application security and data protection. Because computer networks are such a vital part of all information systems today, this topic is addressed at a level to provide managers with an understanding of the fundamentals of cybersecurity in order to help prevent data breaches.
