POL 111 U.S. and Nevada Government
This course serves as an introduction to American government and politics with an emphasis on the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of Nevada. It is designed to familiarize students with the origins and evolution of American national government and Nevada state government, its basic institutions and ideals, and its fundamental decision-making processes regarding domestic and foreign policy. It covers fundamental terms and facts, the development and functions of the U.S. branches of government, and the value preferences within American society that affect public policy. It also develops a basic understanding of how federal, state and local governments interact in the U.S. political system.
