HIS 117 History of Western Civilization I Honors

Who were the Ancients? Why did the Greeks invent democracy? How did the Hebrews preserve monotheism? What did the Romans do besides "decline and fall"? What did Jesus bring and what do we own Islam? Yesterday's solutions highlight today's problems, as this honors course moves through the lives of men and women transforming their societies into a world beginning to look much like our own. Students will be expected to engage in original research and will complete an Honors essay as the culminating project for this course.
