PSY 145 Introduction to Teaching (Pre-K to Grade 6)

This is an introductory course for students interested in working in the field of early childhood. Attention is given to planning for the support of the developmental and educational needs of children from infancy through the primary grades, and planning age-appropriate activities for each level. Topics include an examination of a wide variety of programs available to serve a diverse population of children, plus the history of early childhood education, developmental theorists, teaching competencies and program management techniques. Emphasis is put on planning for "the whole child" and his/her family. Fieldwork observations are required.
