EPI 0940 Professional Foundations Field Experience

Participants will complete a field experience in public, charter, or private schools. These field experiences will provide the opportunity to gain insight into the instructional process. This course provides a basic foundation for becoming a productive member of the teaching profession. Participants will gain an understanding of the organization and administration of the public school, the laws governing teachers, and the purpose of schools. The course develops a professional perspective and creates an awareness of what the teaching professional’s role is in a school. Participants will complete three observations in public, charter, or accredited private schools. It is recommended that these observations span all three levels (elementary, middle school, and high school). This field experience will provide the opportunity to work with a mentor teacher, to do lesson preparation and instruction, and to be formally observed. Those participants who are teaching will be required to complete a field experience in the schools where they are assigned. This course is a co requisite with EPI 0020, Professional Foundations. 15 Hours
