Final Examinations
At the end of a course a separate period of time is designated for a culminating experience or assessment. Assessments may take various forms including, but not limited to, final exams, written assignments, projects, productions, presentations, or portfolios. Faculty are encouraged to tailor assessments to course and disciplinary needs and with consideration of diverse demonstrations of learning.
Instructors may begin administration of other (non-exam) types of culminating experiences before the start of the exam period if necessary but should not extend beyond the designated exam period for the course.
Instructors are discouraged from assigning other major assignments or setting due dates for other significant coursework that would conflict with students' ability to adequately prepare for the assessments of the examination period.
