BIO128 Ecology of the Rainforest
An introduction to the ecology of the rainforest. Both temperate and tropical forests are discussed, but the emphasis is on tropical forests. The concept of biodiversity is introduced and applied in the study of the Olympic Peninsula, Central America, Amazonia, Southeast Asia, Hawaii, and Australia. The course covers some of the environmental, social and economic problems associated with their use and destruction. Fulfills open, liberal arts, and with BIO101 and BIO130 or with BIO132, fulfills laboratory science sequence electives.
