Historical Studies

Introduction & Overview

Studying history is essential to revealing the connections between the past and the present and is fundamental to understanding what it means to be human. The Historical Studies major introduces students to history through historical methodology, historical thinking, and the dynamics that have shaped history globally and regionally. The required interdisciplinary coursework allows students to develop skills such as storytelling, data interpretation and literacy, project management, and empathy that prepare students for long-term success in a wide variety of careers including business, law, government, education, historic preservation, journalism, libraries, museums, and non-profit management.
