PHL 2065 19th Century Philosophy

This course is intended as an overview into the development and progress of philosophy in the 19th century. The century of revolution and upheaval saw the results and ramifications of Enlightenment thinking reverberate throughout the world. We will see how philosophers react to thinkers such as Kant and the newly founded democracies of the USA and France. This course will be broken loosely into two parts: the development of German Idealism and Romanticism and the rise of political thinking in feminist, anti-slave, and communist theories.
